Conference Agenda:
8:30-9:15     Check-In
9:15-10:30   Welcome and "Building Relationships Utilizing the Ansell-Casey Life Skills Assessment Tools" 
                    with Gwynevere Coles, BS and Ebony Harris, MA
                   
Learning Objectives - Participants will:
                    1. Understand the significance of engaging consumers in order to gain the life skills needed to live
                        interdependently.
                   
2. Identify three tools in order to teach consumers how to develop and maintain healthy relationships.
                   
3. Identify three ways to teach consumers how to develop and use a personal support system.
10:30-10:45 Break
10:45-11:45  "Drop-In Centers: The Impetus to Community Inclusion" with Kathryn Bennett, CPSS; Michael
                     Jennings, BA and Michelle Olson, JD
                     Learning Objectives - Participants will learn:
                    1. Why drop-in centers are important to people with psychiatric disabilities
                   
2. How drop-in centers are instrumental to people with psychiatric disabilies in their integration back into
                        the community and society.
                   
3. Why funding should be continuously allocated in drop-in centers.

12:30-1:30  "Administrative Supports for Peer Support Specialists" with Pamela Hyde-Shelton, MBA; Patrick Lewis,
                    CPSS and David R. Taylor, LPC, LMSW
                    Learning Objectives - Participants will be able to identify:
                    1. The significance of the role of Peer Support Specialists in the Community Mental Health system.
                   
2. Ways to support Peer Support Specialists so they are able to make the biggest impact on consumers
                        and the service delivery system.
                   
3. One strategy that can be implemented immediately to support and facilitate their growth as
                        professionals.

1:45-2:45    "Navigating the Detroit Public Schools' Resources and Supports" with Ashara McKee-Williams, PhD and
                    Sheila Turner, LMSW
                    Learning Objectives - Participants will:
                    1. Understand Detroit Public Schools resources and supports available for all students.
                   
2. Understand the special education process.
                   
3. Understand the roles of Detroit Public Schools mental health professionals.

Conference Fees: Admission fee is $30.00 per person for this conference.  Payments MUST be received or post marked by September 13, 2010.  The last day to register is Monday, September 13, 2010. Payment details are listed at the bottom of this page.  

Continuing Education:  Continuing Education Credits will be offered for this conference.  Participants must arrive on time and stay for the conference, including Q and A, to receive full continuing education credit.  Late arrivals or early departures will result in the deduction of awarded credits and proof of attendance.  You must have your professional license number with you to check-in. 
     4.5 Social Work, Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Addictions Counselor credits are approved.

Cancellation and Refund Policy: Substitutions are permitted at any time.  No shows will be billed at the full training rate.  Cancellations must be received in writing at least 10 business days prior to the conference to tmartinez@vceonline.org to obtain a full refund.  If cancellation is received less than 10 business days than no refund will be given.
