Systems Transformation Learning Series Integration of Medical and Psychiatric Care for Persons with Serious Mental Illness with Eugene Schoener, PhD

Training Learning Objectives: - Participants will understand the prevalence of medical problems among persons with serious mental illness - Participants will understand lifestyle related origins of these medical problems including activity, nutrition and self- care deficits - Participants will learn how to effectively manage Co-Occurring Medical and Psychiatric problems (COMP) - Participants will be able to identify the presence of Co-Occurring Medical and Psychiatric (COMP) and how to apply proactive prevention - Participants will learn the Service Delivery Models for COMP
Suggested Participants: Change Agents, Mental Health, Substance Abuse, Physicians, Human Services, Health Care and Direct Care Professionals, Peer Support Specialists, Consumers, and Advocates working and receiving services in the Detroit-Wayne County Community Mental Health Agency network of mental health , substance abuse and developmental disabilities services.
Continuing Education Credits: Continuing education credits are offered for this training. Participants must arrive on time and remain in the training for it's entirety including the question and answer portion. Late arrivals and early departures will result in the deduction of awarded credits. All participants MUST return to the check-in desk to sign-out and pick-up you certificate of attendance or else you will forfeit our proof af attendance and training hours/credits.
Social Workers: Continuing Education Credits are currently pending for this training. Medical Professionals: "The Wayne State University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The Wayne State University School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 2.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s) TM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity." Substance Abuse Professionals: Substance Abuse Professional credits are currently pending for this training. Licensed Professional Counselors: Continuing education credits are currently pending for this training. The Virtual Center of Excellence is an NBCC-Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP) and may offer NBCC-approved clock hours for events that meet NBCC requirements. The ACEP solely is responsible for all aspects of the program.

Walk-ins (people who are not pre-registered) are welcome at events. However, those individuals that pre-registered will have priority for seating and training materials. Walk-ins will only be allowed training materials and, in some instances, a seat once the training begins.
