Participants will be able to-
- Define attachment and its importance in the development of secure human relationships and the sense of self.

Identify the functions of attachment

Identify child and adult attachment classifications

Identify relational risk and protective factors for children in foster care

Define trauma and articulate the traumatic impact of removal for children

Identify three major symptoms in post traumatic stress reactions.

Develop a basic knowledge of neurophysiolgical growth and stress and the neuroscience of all human relationships.

Utilize a developmental model of understanding the ways children express their feelings of loss.

Articulate three ways to minimize the negative effects of separation on children and adolescents.

Develop strategies for assisting parents and caregivers when reuniting children with their parents.
