Children's Mental Health Grand Rounds

The Children's Mental Health Grand Rounds (CMHGR) is a monthly training series which addresses training topics specific to professionals and community partners working with infants, children and adolescents. There are a variety of topics including Infant Mental Health, Child Trama, Co-Occurring Disorders and Engagement. Attending or viewing the entire year of CMHGR training series meets the Michigan Department of Community Mental Health (MDCH) requirement of 24 hours of training per year for all Children Mental Health Professionals (CMHPs) within the Community Mental Health System.

The following videos are each approved for two hours of the 24 hours of training required for CMHPs by MDCH (videos marked with a * have been approved for 3 hours of approved CMHP credit).

The following courses will earn 2 hours of CEC (except where otherwise indicated) for Children's Mental Health Professionals (CMHP) toward the 24 hours required annually by MDCH.  These courses do not result in a prepared certificate like those found in the Online Courses section of the VCE website.  Instead, as proof of completion, the learner must write a paragraph summary with the title of the video and have it counter-signed by his/her supervisor. This summary should be kept in the employee’s HR file and can be used as documentation of CMHP CEC earned. THESE COURSES DO NOT QUALIFY FOR SOCIAL WORK OR COUNSELOR CREDIT, only for CMHP hours.  For a sample form that may be used for the summary, please download the document Michigan Department of Community Health (MCDH) Training Requirements for Child Mental Health ProfessionalsAn example version and a blank copy of the form are contained on pages 5-6 of the document.  Be sure to indicate information learned throughout the video as evidence of having watched the video in its entirety.
