The Detroit-Wayne County Community Mental Health Agency (D-WCCMHA) Community Planning Council (CPC) serves as an advisory group to the Agency?s Board & Executive Director. The Council was established in 2005 and charged with advancing systems transformation in Wayne County, Michigan. The Council?s activities are designed to improve service delivery by identifying, prioritizing and recommending strategies that further the use of practice-based and evidenced-based practices for the D-WCCMHA and its network of service providers.
The Council consists of a maximum of thirty-three members, including people with disabilities and their family members, as well as representatives from various hospitals, advocacy groups,
and organization from each sector of the system, i.e., mental illness, developmental disabilities and substance use disorders. Operating according to its slogan that ?Everyone Has Wisdom,?
this diverse group brings their unique experiences and insights together to fulfill its vision.
The Council achieves their work through five subcommittees each of which has an
orientation toward system transformation and recovery:
Access, Community Awareness & Health Promotion Cross-system Coordination Recovery / Peer Support Recruitment & Workforce Development Data Analysis & Outcomes
