Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) with Larry Lewis, MSW, Vanessa Lewis, LMSW, Michael Mitchell, LBSW and Judi Rosen-Davis, LPC
Date: Monday, February 6 and Tuesday, February 7, 2012 Time: 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (Each day) Location: The Guidance Center's Center for Excellence 13111 Allen Road Southgate, MI 48195
Suggested Participants: Advocates, Clergy, College Students, Community Members affected by and/or interested in Suicide Prevention, faith-based Community Leaders, Parents, Peer Support Specialists, School Personnel and Veterans. Anyone interested in suicide prevention is welcomed; however the content it not recommended for children under 14 years of age.
***This workshop does not qualify for Continuing Education Credits for Social Workers***
Learning Objectives: Participants will learn how to:
- Reach out and offer support
- Recognize invitations for help
- Review the risk of suicide
- Apply a suicide intervention model
- Link people with community resources
This is a full two-day training. Participants must attend BOTH days of training in order to receive a Certificate of Attendance.
There is no fee to attend this training, however pre-registration is REQUIRED.
Training materials will be provided for each attendee.
Beverage service ONLY will be made available. You will be given an hour break for lunch, and will receive a map of local restaurants once you are registered.
