(2-14-2012, 3-13, 4-10) Retention-Focused Supervision for Direct Care Workers - Cohort 14

DATES: February 14, March 13 and April 10, 2012

There is no fee for this series.

LEARNING OBJECTIVE: This three (3) part series is aimed at increasing the retention of Direct Care Community Mental Health Workers in residential community settings through the application of a model for supervision developed at Michigan State University by Judith McKenzie, LMSW; John McKenzie, BS; and Rosemary Jackson, LMSW.  The model addresses topics such as:

• The process and practice of retention-focused supervision
• Working with differences
• Improving communication skills
• Recruiting and selecting the right staff
• The first six months of hire

SUGGESTED PARTICIPANTS:  Supervisors of Direct Care Workers, Peer Support Specialists, Child Care Workers, Mental Health Techs, Support Staff; and all staff who work within the organizations that provide services to CMH consumers, not limited to housekeeping, billing clerks, receptionists, parking lot attendees, club house advocates, supportive housing and employment specialists.  Community Health/Direct Care Workers and Home Managers.

There are NO continuing education credits available for this training.
