Children's Mental Health Grand Rounds Training Series Working with Children Who Have Co-Occurring Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Concerns (Implementation for Wayne County System of Care for Children with Developmental Disabilities ARR [8]) with Luke Tsai, MD
Children's Mental
Health Grand Rounds will be available at FIVE (5) locations via
video-conference! Attendees will be able to participate, save time and
gas money and still receive continuing education credits. See details

DATE: Thursday, November 18, 2010 TIME: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM, to ensure parking arrive by 8:00 AM
LOCATION:
This training will be available through video-conference at five (5)
locations. The speaker will be at the LIVE Site: Dearborn Ford &
Performing Arts Center. The Broadcast Sites are: The Children's
Center, Detroit; Lincoln Behavioral Services, Redford; Northeast
Guidance Center's Wellness Academy, Detroit and The Guidance Center's
Center For Excellence, Southgate.

SUGGESTED PARTICIPANTS:
Professionals who work in Community Mental Health, Developmental
Disabilities and Substance Abuse systems with children, adolescents and
their families in Wayne County, including advocates, case managers,
child mental health professionals (psychiatrists, psychologists, social
workers and supports coordinators), direct care workers, family
advocates, family members, licensed professional counselors, nurses,
occupational therapists, parents and peer support specialists.
Professional
staff within our Community Partners who interact with children,
adolescents and their families, who are part of the Community Mental
Health System, including Department of Human Services; Hospitals; Law
Enforcement; School Personnel, including Detroit Public Schools; and
other Social Service Organizations.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Participants will be able to: 1. Identify six common co-existing neuropsychiatric disorders of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). 2. Identify three most common mental health issues in individuals with ASD and co-existing neuropsychiatric disorders. 3. To use three strategies to help individuals with ASD and their families to improve their quality of life. ADA ACCOMMODATIONS:

CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS: Continuing
education credits are offered for this training. Participants must
arrive on time and remain in the training for it's entirety including
the question and answer portion. Late arrivals and early departures
will result in the deduction of awarded credits. All participants MUST
return to the check-in desk to sign-out and/pick-up your certificate of
attendance or else you will forfeit your proof of attendance and
training hours/credits!
-SOCIAL WORKERS: 3.0 continuing education credits are pending for this training.
-LICENSED PROFESSIONAL COUNSELORS: 3.0 continuing education credits are pending for this training. The
Virtual Center of Excellence is an NBCC-Approved Continuing Education
Provider (ACEP) and may offer NBCC-approved clock hours for events that
meet NBCC requirements. The ACEP solely is responsible for all aspects
of the program.
-NURSES: 3.0 continuing nursing education (CNE) credits have been approved for this training. Hospice
of Michigan's Maggie Allessee Center for Quality of Life is an approved
provider of continuing nursing education by the Wisconsin Nurses
Association Continuing Education Approval Committee, an accredited
approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on
Accreditation.
-MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS: "The
Wayne State University School of Medicine is accredited by the
Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide
continuing medical education for physicians. The Wayne State
University School of Medicine designates this educational activity for
a maximum of 2.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s) TM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity."
